Story of August 15
The original story of the film is based on the English novel The Day of the Jackal, which told the story of the assassination attempt of the chief minister of the state and the investigation of a hot cop. August 15 has Mammootty as Crime Branch officer Perumal who is in the investigation in to another assassination attempt to Chief Minister of Kerala on the Independence Day. The entire film belongs to Perumal’s investigation about the murder attempt and the twist and turns behind it.
